“This is a Castrol requisition and the successful candidate will become part of the Castrol ring-fence ahead of the Castrol divestment later in 2026. From the point of the divestment, you will be employed fully by Castrol and no longer be a bp employee.”

About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Chief Accountant to take full ownership of accounting activities for a Hungarian legal entity within a multinational organization.
This role covers end-to-end accounting, including statutory reporting, tax compliance, and local statistical reporting, ensuring full compliance with Hungarian regulations while aligning with group requirements.
In this role You will:
  • Full ownership of end-to-end accounting activities for the Hungarian entity
  • Ensure compliance with Hungarian GAAP, IFRS, and statutory requirements
  • Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes
  • Prepare statutory financial statements and ensure timely submission
  • Coordinate and support statutory and group audits
  • Supervise tax compliance (CIT, VAT, local taxes) in cooperation with tax advisors
  • Ensure accurate and timely local statistical (KSH) reporting
  • Maintain high-quality balance sheet reconciliations and controls
  • Act as main contact for local authorities, auditors, and external partners
  • Collaborate with global finance teams (controlling, tax, treasury)
  • Identify areas for process improvement and standardization
What You need to be successful:
  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Several years of relevant experience, ideally in a multinational environment
  • Deep expertise in HAS statutory reporting, financial statements, and local compliance requirements
  • Ability to bridge HAS and IFRS reporting differences
  • Good understanding of IFRS
  • Proven experience in statutory reporting, tax filings, and audits in Hungary
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g. SAP)
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Fluent English and Hungarian
  • Ability to work independently and manage deadlines
  • Able to manage multiple/conflicting priorities with a strong track record of delivery against tight deadlines
  • Ability to align operational and project management tasks and priorities
  • Demonstrated end-to-end process expertise in accounting areas esp. Group close, contract management, Balance Sheet reconciliation, financial statements
  • Strong communication and cooperation skills
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership and facilitation skills with ability to work with and influence cross functional teams from a variety of backgrounds and cultures
