International HR Specialist – Payroll Expert

About BYD Auto Hungary
On 22 December 2023, BYD announced the construction of a new energy vehicle production base in Szeged, Hungary, which will be built in phases. The new production base is planned to adopt globally advanced process equipment and highly automated production processes to create a world-leading new energy vehicle manufacturing base.
We are looking for a payroll-savvy HR professional who can ensure the smooth operation of payroll-related processes in a dynamic international environment. If you have hands-on experience in payroll preparation, a solid understanding of the Hungarian Labour Code, and an eye for accuracy, we welcome you to join our growing team.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as the key contact for payroll preparation, ensuring data accuracy and alignment with Hungarian labour law.
  • Coordinate with our external payroll provider and internal stakeholders to ensure timely and correct payroll processing.
  • Collect and verify monthly data, including attendance, sick leave, vacation, bonuses, overtime, and shift allowances.
  • Support the calculation and review of termination and retirement payments to ensure compliance and accuracy.
  • Maintain and manage wage-related records and oversee timely updates of employee-related payroll data.
  • Handle salary-related inquiries and provide guidance to employees on wages, timekeeping, and leave management.
  • Manage the administration of social insurance, maternity/paternity benefits, and other statutory reporting obligations.
  • Support the definition, monitoring, and improvement of local compensation and benefit processes.
  • Prepare and analyze reports on payroll statistics, salary trends, and provide data-driven improvement suggestions.
  • Ensure legal compliance in all payroll activities, based on strong, up-to-date knowledge of the Hungarian Labour Code.
Skills, Qualifications, and Experience Required:
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in HR or payroll administration, ideally in a manufacturing environment.
  • HR related Bachelor’s degree is an advantage
  • Rich experience in handling payroll data preparation and coordination with external payroll providers.
  • Strong knowledge and practical experience in applying the Hungarian Labour Code in day-to-day HR operations.
  • Fluent in Hungarian, with at least an intermediate level of English for written and verbal communication.
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and confidentiality in handling employee data.
  • Confident in using Excel and HR systems (e.g., time tracking and payroll software).
  • Proactive attitude, ability to work independently, and strong interpersonal skills.
  • A positive mindset, resilience, and adaptability in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
